Tulip in jeans

Suffering from a sewing dip, nothing works better as a cure than a kind question of two sweet ladies. This summer, they were busy bees in a bouquet full of Tulips. After the launch of the Dutch version of the pattern, they did not exactly lie back in their easy chairs to watch all those flowers grow. The Netherlands may have the biggest export of tulip bulbs, when it comes to dresses, Belgian designers Eva and Katrien deserve the first price! The Tulip pattern is now available in English and ready for a trip around the world. If I wanted to join the blogtour to whish their pattern baby a nice flight? Sure!

Welja!

Unfortunately, there is more then one dip in this story. My beloved 50 mm lens fell on his nose. From the kitchen table, quite hard. My husband fell too, form his bike, but it only left him with a little scar and a beautiful scar camouflaging beard. My lens does not seem to cure that fast. So these pictures come with enough grain to show you autumn has begon. Livs mood had a dip too. She had absolutely no motivation to make it a nice and smooth photoshoot, though I told her Eva deserved a smile - and she loves Eva. "This is my most beautiful smile."... Yeah right.

Tja.

But the pattern did not suffer from a dip: it just did its romantic trick, as I saw in many of the beautiful examples already sewn. Since the first glimp I got, when Katrien and Eva where working on the design, I wanted to do something with jeans. Seasons don't have any impact on the suitability of jeans, just like the Tulip pattern suits every season too. The pattern tells you not to use sturdy fabric, but the jeans I found is as thin as quilting cotton. I like how it turned out. For the tulip part and lining, I used an ultra thin piece of cotton. (Of which my camera wants you to believe it's pink, but in fact it's red and white.)

For the back, I chose a row of metal buttons, the option I like the most for the top version of the pattern.

I'm a huge fan of the combination cotton top - shorts - knee high socks. So I made matching shorts, a job not taking more than half an hour, using the most soft knit fabric I ever felt. Liv - comfy is her middle name - just loves it.

I bought matching bamboo knee socks with a little bling detail at the top.

And this is when our cat came a long and wriggled himself a way through Livs dollhouse, bringing me some spontaneous laughter to close this story. A smile the Tulip pattern definitely deserves!
